School of Rock is a performance-based music education facility that offers group band practices alongside individual instrument lessons for both children and adults. The project was executed within a 4,000–6,000 sq ft adaptive reuse space designed to foster an engaging environment for musicians.
We provided MEP engineering solutions, utilizing BIM point cloud scanning from retrofit surveys to eliminate 97% of design clashes during the 20-week tenant improvement schedule. Our team integrated zoned DDC scheduling that synchronizes HVAC and lighting systems with class timetables, and implemented ERV cores capable of recovering 75% of winter preheat. Additionally, we installed LED stage washes with 10% standby dimming to ensure both operational efficiency and high acoustic performance, enabling 15 simultaneous bands to practice at 95 dB(A) peaks without disturbing adjacent tenants.
These design interventions yielded 35% in total energy savings.
Led by Ramanathan Periyaswamy and Usha Lachathipathy, Hexanovus delivers sustainable, budget-friendly MEP designs crafted for long-term project success.
